Nuance Communications, Inc. has released Dragon NaturallySpeaking 12, an update of its popular voice recognition software that enables users to create content and control their PC by talking.

The new version has over 100 new features and enhancements designed to make text dictation and navigation commands -- for such tasks as using email and updating Facebook -- more accurate and efficient.

According to Nuance, Dragon 12 boasts a 20% improvement in dictation speed and accuracy and to the technology that learns and remembers user preferences.

NaturallySpeaking 12 Features & Enhancements

  • Gmail & Hotmail: Dragon 12 provides full text control for the two popular email applications and commands for the most frequent actions in Internet Explorer 9, Mozilla Firefox, and Google Chrome.
  • Smart Format Rules :While Dragon has long adapted to a user's voice characteristics (pitch, speaking style, accent, etc.), Dragon 12 detects and auto-correct word, phrase, and formatting preferences.
  • Faster Corrections: Dragon now displays more word and phrase choices to provide the most likely alternatives and prompts users to update their profile's vocabulary for future recognition.
  • Android Support for Dragon Remote Mic: This free app turns compatible devices -- including the iPhone and now Android -- into a wireless microphone when used over a Wi-Fi network. Dragon 12 also features enhanced support for wideband 16 kHz Bluetooth wireless headset microphones

Additional features include an Enriched Performance Assistant, richer help menu, full text control with Dictation Box, and more ways to customize options. Dragon 12 also has text-to-speech with fast-forward, rewind, and speed controls for reading and proofing editable text.
